삼성전자와 SK하이닉스가 호남 지역에 400조 원대의 반도체 투자를 계획함에 따라 한국 정치권에서 심각한 갈등이 야기되고 있다.

Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix's plan to invest over 400 trillion won in the Honam region has sparked serious conflict in Korean politics.

야당인 국민의힘은 25일 이 계획을 지역 차별이라고 강하게 비판하며, 대구와 경북 지역 소속 의원 25명이 기자회견을 열어 "처음부터 재검토할 것"을 촉구했다.

The opposition People Power Party strongly criticized the plan on the 25th as regional discrimination, and 25 members of parliament from Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions held a press conference demanding "reconsideration from the beginning."

이에 대해 여당인 민주당은 이러한 비판이 "지역 갈등을 조장하는 근거 없는 주장"이라고 반박하며, 구미시장 김장호가 반도체 공장 유치를 위해 산업용지를 평당 1,000원에 제공하기로 한 조치를 정당화했다.

In response, the ruling Democratic Party countered that such criticism was "groundless claims that incite regional conflict," and justified the measure by which Gumi City Mayor Kim Jang-ho offered industrial land at 1,000 won per pyeong to attract semiconductor factories.

이 분쟁의 배경에는 이재명 대통령이 지난해 12월 재생 에너지가 풍부한 남부 지역으로 투자를 유도해야 한다는 발언이 있었으며, 1월에 통과된 반도체 특별법은 국가가 비수도권 지역에 수도, 전기, 국토를 100% 지원할 수 있도록 규정했다.

Behind this dispute lies President Lee Jae-myung's December remarks about directing investment toward the southern region with abundant renewable energy, and the Semiconductor Special Law passed in January stipulates that the state can support non-capital regions with water, electricity, and national land up to 100%.

이 특별법은 민주당의 전당대회를 앞두고 8월에 발효될 예정이며, 이 대통령은 30일에 반도체 투자 결정을 발표할 계획이었다.

The special law is scheduled to take effect in August ahead of the Democratic Party's national convention, and President Lee was planning to announce semiconductor investment decisions on the 30th.

경기 용인, 전북, 충청 지역을 포함한 여러 지역에서도 호남 반도체 클러스터 계획에 대한 반발이 일어났으며, 전북 지역 민주당 의원들은 예산 정책 회의를 열어 공동 대응 방안을 발표했다.
