1. Information we collect

When you sign in with Google (optional)

• Google account basics: your name, email address, and a Google account identifier. We receive these from Google when you sign in; we never see your password.
• Learning data: the words you save, your flashcard review results, and your study streak — so your progress follows you across devices.

When you use the site without signing in

• Browser storage (localStorage): your vocabulary deck and review progress are saved only in your own browser. They never reach our servers unless you sign in and choose to keep them.
• An anonymous cookie ("vtoken"): a random identifier that lets you vote and answer in the Learners' Lounge without an account. It contains no personal information.
• Comments and Lounge answers: any name and content you choose to submit.

Automatically, by third-party services

• Google Analytics: anonymous usage statistics (pages visited, approximate region, device type) to help us improve the site.
• Google AdSense (when enabled): third-party advertising cookies that may be used to show relevant ads. See "Advertising" below.

2. How we use this information

• To save and sync your vocabulary and study progress (signed-in users)
• To operate community features (comments, Lounge answers, votes)
• To understand how the site is used and improve our content
• To show ads that keep the site free

We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

3. Third-party services

We rely on the following Google services, each governed by Google's Privacy Policy:

• Google Sign-In (OAuth) — optional account login
• Google Analytics 4 — anonymous usage statistics

We do not currently display ads. If we enable advertising in the future, we plan to use Google AdSense.

Advertising

The site does not currently show ads. If Google AdSense is enabled in the future, Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You will be able to opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings, or learn more at How Google uses cookies in advertising.

Where your data is processed (international transfer)

Our service infrastructure and the Google services above may store and process your information on servers located outside your country of residence, including outside the Republic of Korea (for example, Google's data centers). The items transferred are those described in Section 1; they are retained per Section 4 and protected under Google's security practices and privacy policy. If you do not wish your data to be transferred this way, please use the site without signing in, or request deletion at any time (Section 4).

4. Data retention & deletion

• Your account and learning data are kept while your account is active.
• You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing us (address below). We will delete it within 30 days.
• Anonymous browser data (localStorage) can be cleared at any time from your own browser settings.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under GDPR for EU residents and the Personal Information Protection Act of Korea), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict its processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below.

6. Children

This site is intended for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.

8. Contact & privacy officer

This site is operated by an individual administrator who also serves as the privacy officer (개인정보 보호책임자) responsible for handling data inquiries.
