Former President Yoon Seok-yeol was required to wear handcuffs and an electronic ankle bracelet when he left the detention center to receive medical treatment, according to the correctional authorities.

교정당국 측은 "특혜 시비를 사전에 차단하기 위한 조치"라고 설명했다. 구속 피의자가 진료 등 이유로 구치소 밖에 잠시 나갈 때 이러한 조치를 취한다고 설명했다.

The correctional authorities explained that this was a measure to preemptively block any controversy over preferential treatment. They said such measures are taken when detainees briefly leave the detention center for reasons such as medical treatment.

한편 법무부는 이날 윤 전 대통령이 수감된 서울구치소장을 교체했다고 밝혔다. 더불어민주당 등 여권을 중심으로 '윤 전 대통령에게만 특혜를 준다'는 비판이 제기되면서 문책성 인사를 시행했다는 평가가 법조계에서 나왔다.

김현우 서울구치소장은 안양교도소장으로 이동하게 됐고, 신임 서울구치소장에는 김도형 수원구치소장이 임명됐다.
