추석 연휴 기간 중 여행객들이 주로 사용하는 공항·터미널·호텔 등의 무료 와이파이를 사용하다 개인정보가 유출될 수 있다는 경고가 나왔다.

Travelers were warned that their personal information could be leaked if they use the free Wi-Fi at airports, terminals, and hotels during the Chuseok holiday period.

사이버 보안기업 서프샤크는 2일 "추석 연휴 기간 중 무료 와이파이 사용과 여행 관련 앱 접속 과정에서 해킹의 위험이 있다"며 주의를 당부했다.

On September 2nd, the cybersecurity firm Surfshark warned that there is a risk of hacking when using free Wi-Fi and accessing travel-related apps during the Chuseok holiday period.

이어 "추석 연휴 여행 중에 자신도 모르게 경계를 늦추고 활발한 온라인 활동으로 개인정보를 노출하는 경우가 많다"며 "사이버 범죄자들이 노리기 좋은 시기"라고 경고했다.

It further warned that during Chuseok holiday travel, people often let their guard down and expose their personal information through active online activities, making it a prime time for cyber criminals to target them.

먼저 공항·호텔의 무료 와이파이가 해커들의 주요 표적이라며 계정 정보·이메일·비밀번호 등 민감한 데이터가 유출될 수 있다고 설명했다.

It explained that the free Wi-Fi at airports and hotels are prime targets for hackers, and sensitive data such as account information, emails, and passwords could be leaked.

또한 온라인동영상서비스(OTT)에 영상 콘텐츠를 시청하거나 디지털 기기 소프트웨어 업데이트 중에 로그인, 구독 갱신 등 과정에서 공식 계정을 사칭한 해킹 등도 조심해야 한다고 당부했다.

It also warned that users should be cautious of hacking that impersonates official accounts during processes like logging in, renewing subscriptions, or updating software while streaming content on OTT platforms or digital devices.

인공지능(AI) 기술 발달로 숙박 예약, 여행상품 검색, 앱 설치 과정에서 AI가 실제 누리집을 본뜬 가짜 정보로 접속을 유도하는 수법도 늘고 있다고 설명했다.

It explained that with the advancement of AI technology, there is an increasing trend of AI luring users to access fake information that mimics real websites during processes like hotel reservations, travel product searches, and app installations.
