도널드 트럼프 미 대통령의 최측근으로 꼽히는 루디 줄리아니 전 뉴욕시장이 교통사고로 다쳤다. 경찰은 사고 당시 줄리아니의 대변인 테드 굿맨도 동승했다고 밝혔다.

Rudy Giuliani, a close ally of former U.S. President Donald Trump, was injured in a car accident. Police reported that Giuliani's spokesperson, Ted Goodman, was also riding along at the time of the accident.

줄리아니 전 시장은 흉추 골절과 다수의 열상·타박상을 입었다. 그는 인근 외상센터로 이송돼 치료를 받고 있다.

Former Mayor Giuliani sustained a spinal fracture and multiple lacerations and contusions. He was transported to a nearby trauma center for treatment.

줄리아니의 경호팀장인 마이클 라구사는 줄리아니가 부상을 입었지만 빠른 회복세를 보이고 있다고 전했다.

Michael LaRosa, Giuliani's security chief, said that Giuliani was injured but is showing signs of a rapid recovery.

라구사는 사고 직전 줄리아니가 가정 폭력 사건의 피해자를 돕고 있었다며, 표적 공격 및 사고 운전자 여성에 관한 추측을 삼가달라고 했다.

LaRosa said that just prior to the accident, Giuliani had been assisting a victim of domestic violence, and asked that speculation about a targeted attack or the female driver be avoided.

줄리아니 역시 CNN과의 인터뷰에서 "잘못된 장소, 잘못된 시간에 발생한 사고일 뿐"이라며 표적 공격 의혹을 일축했다.

Giuliani himself also dismissed the notion of a targeted attack in an interview with CNN, stating that it was simply "an accident in the wrong place at the wrong time."
