이재명 대통령은 6월 30일 광주 김대중컨벤션센터에서 개최된 남서권 선도산업 발전 비전 국정 보고회에서 삼성전자와 SK하이닉스의 호남 지역 반도체 클러스터 투자가 현재 건설 중인 경기 용인 클러스터와 동시에 추진될 것이라고 발표했다.

President Lee Jae-myung announced at the Southwest Advanced Industry Development Vision National Report Meeting held at Kim Dae-jung Convention Center in Gwangju on June 30 that the semiconductor cluster investments by Samsung Electronics and SK Hainik in the Honam region will proceed simultaneously with the currently under-construction Gyeonggi Yongin cluster.

이 발표는 한국의 반도체 산업 정책에 있어 중요한 전환점을 의미하며, 대통령은 삼성전자 이재용 회장과 SK그룹 최태원 회장을 설득하여 두 프로젝트를 동시에 추진하도록 합의를 도출했다고 밝혔다.

This announcement represents a significant turning point in Korea's semiconductor industry policy, and the president revealed that he had persuaded Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won to reach an agreement to pursue both projects simultaneously.

삼성전자는 반도체 제조 공장과 첨단산업 분야에 425조 원의 투자를 단행하기로 발표했으며, SK는 광주 반도체 클러스터에 470조 원을 투자하고 1GW 규모의 인공지능 데이터센터 건설을 추진하기로 했다.

Samsung Electronics announced that it would invest 425 trillion won in semiconductor fabrication plants and advanced industrial fields, while SK decided to invest 470 trillion won in the Gwangju semiconductor cluster and pursue the construction of a 1GW-scale artificial intelligence data center.

또한 암코는 광주 첨단 패키징 공장 확대에 1조 원을 투자하기로 발표하여, 호남 지역에 대한 총 투자 규모가 896조 원에 달하게 되었다.

Additionally, Amco announced that it would invest 1 trillion won to expand its advanced packaging fabrication plant in Gwangju, bringing the total investment scale for the Honam region to 896 trillion won.

대통령은 광주 반도체 클러스터의 완성 시기를 2030년으로 지정하였으며, 이 프로젝트의 성공적 추진을 위해 청와대에 전담팀을 구성하여 전 과정을 감시하고 관리하겠다고 약속했다.

The president designated 2030 as the completion deadline for the Gwangju semiconductor cluster, and promised to establish a dedicated team at the Blue House to oversee and manage the entire process to ensure successful implementation of this project.

이러한 동시 추진 방식은 경기 지역과 호남 지역 간의 균형 잡힌 산업 발전을 조성하고자 하는 정부의 의지를 반영하며, 한국의 글로벌 반도체 산업 경쟁력 강화에 기여할 것으로 예상된다.
