Cultural Notes

In Korea, tax compliance is taken very seriously by the government and the public. Korean citizens are expected to report their income honestly and pay their fair share of taxes, which fund public services and infrastructure. When celebrities or wealthy individuals are found to have evaded taxes or used loopholes, it becomes a major news story and draws public criticism, as Koreans view tax evasion as both illegal and socially irresponsible. This reflects Korea's strong emphasis on rule of law and collective responsibility to society.
